Bluetooth an old broke VW radio

I have an old broke VW am radio. I would love to use it with my smartphone to play music.

While search about converting old car radios. I found Bluetooth AMP boards on eBay. For $13 shipped I figured I'd give it a try.

Here is the amp. It's a 2 channel, 25 watts per channel, runs on 8-24 volts.

So I tested the amp out on the bench. It sounded really good thru a pair of surround sound speakers.

I tested the light to see if it still works. It does!! yeah who!!

This next picture isn't for the radio purist. I had to cut out a lot of the radio "insides" to make the AMP fit. I wanted to keep all the external knobs and buttons. So the cage in the middle had to stay. Some carving away from the center cage was needed. Then mounted the AMP to a piece of wood then wood to radio chassis.

I wired up the AMP's power to go thru the radio's on/off/volume button. Connected all the wires and tested it. It all turned on including the original light. Oh yeah!!

I did find there was a static going thru the speakers. It must be because the AMP is sitting in a little tin box. I changed the top to a piece of rubber. Static is gone!! You can hear it a little in the video above.
